Gerald Scooter Barnes - Class Of 1978

Gerald “Scooter” Barnes, 53, passed away Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012 at his residence in Bogalusa. 

He was born on Dec. 31, 1958 in Bogalusa, the son of Gerald Barnes and the late Martha Rhoden Barnes. He spent most of his adult life on the east coast in Maryland, employed as a carpenter. His passion was music. He not only loved to play, he was also a talented writer. 

He leaves behind one daughter, Summer Barnes Duncan, the mother of his two grandchildren, Molly and Jude; his father, Gerald; two brothers, Ricky and Barry (Shannon); and a sister, Patricia Barnes Crain. He will also be missed by his aunt, Evelyn Antionette Thomas, and his numerous nieces and nephews. 



 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha, and his grandparents, Newell and Mildred Barnes and William and Evelyn Thomas. 

Missed in body, his music will live on forever.

A memorial service will be held today (Sunday) at 1600 Avenue F in the Community Room, from noon until 2 p.m. A service will start at 1 p.m.
